Community Services & Nonprofits Agricultural Buy Fresh, Buy Local Piedmont Environmental Council’s Buy Fresh Buy Local program works to advance economic sustainability for family farmers, protect farmland and promote greater food security in our community. The initiative educates consumers on where and how to buy locally grown foods through Buy Fresh Buy Local Food Guide; a website, www.buylocalvirginia.org; and community outreach activities and events. BFBL also provides marketing support to growers and business owners, helps increase market outlets for local foods and is actively connecting farmers with chefs throughout the Piedmont and Shenandoah Valley regions.
